Blog 2.22

Here is my blog in pieces…

.

I do not have any sports other than thumb wrestling.

I’m always on-the-go, always feeling anxious to do or go from point A to B.

I can’t help but honestly consider Rome as the best place in Italy.

My most memorable experience in Spain was when I get to be on a bull run scene for the very reason that I actually got rammed by the bull.

As if it’s a sacred experience, I rejoice that I’ve finally sat foot on top of Mt. Vesuvius.

Rose Valley Falls trail is technically my very first hiking trail.

Amsterdam is easily one of the most fascinating European city I’ve been to.

I begged to go back to Florence for my last few days in Italy.

On my second visit, the crowd, the colors, the Gondola ride and the whole carnival celebration made the city of Venice… more alive.

Chocolate is the only way I can sugarcoat my trip to Brussels.

I’d skip all my world’s food travel in exchange of going to Vigan and getting a load of their authentic empanada.

The best album of the last decade for me is Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens.

There’s no time that I visit my homeland without checking out Philippine music gigs.

By the time I had all three of their previous albums, I was deaf to anything but Kings of Leon.

I worship Christopher Nolan.

I love foreign films.

Some of those boring, bland, pretentiously indie-sized, too damn dramatic, too directorial films are mainly critic’s favorites to which I just don’t quite get.

They say “Don’t judge the book by its cover”. I say “Judge the song by its cover”.

I say you think about what changes you gonna get into.

I believe that someone who writes with misspelled words, grammatical errors, improper or unconventional ways of writing doesn’t automatically proved to be ineffective.

I seem to believe that the wonder of traveling, going places and sightseeing all boils down to the idea of just being there.

My father never really opened a book nor shared me a story. We never even watched a movie nor a particular favorite T.V. show of just us together. He just showed me valuable life lessons by basically him living his life.

The answer is simple. I believe the truest simplicity can be found in children.

I love the T.V. show Survivor.

Italian food, Mi Piace!

I never knew dragon-like living things actually exist! Uncanny.

I’m currently residing in Ventura, County.

I am a proud volunteer to my communities.

I got lost in Paris.

Diego Garcia is a small island located in Indian ocean. However, it is mainly populated by overseas filipino workers.

Seahorses are unique in the Animal Kingdom because it’s the male that gets pregnant.
What fascinates me the most is the risk of mastering bullfighting.

For her I bleed myself dry.

Stick a fork in me, I got Freshly Pressed!

Check out my 100th post.

  1. YAY! finally got his About me section down. I like what you came up with. Tells more about who you are and how eventful your eyes is. Since I can only dream of the places you have been. I love to see the pictures of the beautiful places you have been. God Bless :)

  2. YAY on me! :D

You can just hit my “travel” tag. Also, my new amazing theme (thanks wordpress for such a wonderful blog support) also has this template where I you can see my “travel” posts at the front page.

Thank you PJ for your continuing visit to my blog.

Oh hey, maybe it’s your turn to update your gravatar as well. *wink*

  3. You very welcome and yea, I have been thinking about doing that. Since its a New Year and I finally made WP my home for blogging. :)

Thank you for continuing to visit my blog as well, Many Blessings :)

    • No. I always traveled with very large circle of friends. It was always a group deciision. I can only hope now to go there.

Thank You for visits to my blog.

  4. I was overwhelmed with your visit today on my blog. I am convivial for all the kind words you have fed me today. I don’t know where to start. If I say, “Thank you”, it would an understatement and I want to return the favor fairly. So, I thought doing the following would be a good start.

    1. Reading your About Me
    2. Subscribing to your blog

I was touched on that part where you said, “My father never really opened a book nor shared me a story. We never even watched a movie nor a particular favorite T.V. show of just us together. He just showed me valuable life lessons by basically him living his life.” I must say I so know that. Maybe your father is as sturdy as mine. Someone who doesn’t give a room for mushy stuff. Much of that, I am proud I have found a connection to the west through you. Expect some digging here in the next few days or as soon as possible. I’m in the office right now that’s why.

Kudos to you too for setting foot on places I know I can only reach by dreaming. I’d be content to see what you have posted about the things you shared here — particularly your Mt. Vesuvius Conquest. I’m a virtual globetrotter but a genuine local wanderer.

    Until then …

    PS

The efforts are definitely appreciated — with all my heart.

  5. My friend, thanks for listing me on the right sidebar, I appreciate it. And by the way it’s very nice to see some of my friends here, very cool. Keep blogging and stay blessed! :)

  6. Hi Rommel,

Your blog looks pretty cool ! I saw you had the chance to visit Amsterdam, next time you go there, give me a shout and we may go for a beer (not a San Miguel unfortunately but an Amstel heheh).

    Ciao

    John

  7. I can only hope for that happening. But yeah, I definately nod for the invite since I’ve seen the common spots in Armsterdam.

Reminded me about the night we went and drunk German beers. Was fun, three sheets to the wind all over the place.

  8. You consider Rome the best place in Italy, and yet you almost wanted to take Florence from me! I suppose I can’t help but agree that Rome has so much to offer as well. Though Florence takes the cake in my book.

I’m a smidge envious of your other travels.

Chicago is my favy from Illinoise.

And if you’re into foreign films- I suggest Valentin, Amelie, and The Road Home. Those are some of my tops.

    • Hihi. I give it back to you. :D

The lines all have specific blog entry. I will see about Valentin and The Road Home. I have Amelie on My Favorite Foreign Films blogpost.

      Thanks for the visit, thegirlwhit.

  9. Thank you for visiting our family/travel photoblog, and better than that, thanks for adding it to your blogroll! What a great pleasure! You’ve got yourself a pretty fun blog here, so nice to browse thru the categories… Greetings from (currently) warm Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, from http://3rdculturechildren.com

    • Hihi. I don’t really see that many blogs that came from Brazil. Lucky to have come across your blog to at least one Brazil blog that I follow. You guys are one lucky family to be in that beautiful country.

  12. Hi Rommel, thank you for stopping by my blog :) Your photography is gorgeous, I’m really enjoying reading about your travels and look forward to hearing further stories!
    All the best, Liz

    • Thanks Liz, you’re very talented with all those drawings and it seems you put good thoughts on it as well rather than just random doing it.
I hope my blog doesn’t disappoint. I am trying to blog as much as I can whenever I can, something that is hard for me to do lately.

      • Thank you! It’s hard sometimes to come up with a decent thought for each drawing, depending on what sort of day I’ve had they can be more sketchy than anything else but I’m glad you like them!
From the looks of it I’m going to love your blog – it’s better that you’re getting loads out of your travels and blogging later, rather than blogging at the expense of enjoying the experience ;)

  13. thank you for the like! i hope you were able to enjoy some of my posts! your blog is very interesting! i have never traveled outside the country other than canada, so travelers like yourself are fascinating!

  14. Hi Rommel- thanks for taking time to read my blog. Looking over your site, love the way you presented yourself and the pictures are wonderful! Oh, I agree with you on the Vigan empanada- the best! Keep the blogs coming… :)

  15. I love your blog. What a great place to visit. Its like visiting someone’s home, and finding the whole neighbourhood there! Keep up the good work. I am new to all of this, so may come back to you for some pointers!

  16. I’m glad thumb wrestling is a sport, and i certainly hope it’s ranked above cheerleading. You’re great at simplifying; this wordy-girl can learn a lot from that. Happy travels!

  17. Hey Rommel! Thanks for stopping by Defining Wonderland. I saw your Freshly Pressed post a while ago and was delighted to see it showcased Ventura County. I’ve been a proud resident since birth. =) Your photos are amazing… keep up the great work and enjoy the traveling!

  18. You have an awesome sense of humor and a great relatable perspective on life which makes for a very interesting blog!!! Your blog is terrific – Great photos! It makes me want to pack my suitcase and go! I will be checking in often to see your latest adventures! Thanks for sharing!

    • Different folks, different strokes.
I can understand people may not agree. My Venice experiences was all awesome. Haven’t gone there during the Carnevale and having ridden a Gondola. I’m firm on my stand towards Rome.
      Whatever floats your boat. :D
I actually I choose Florence over Venice. Ooopsy.
      To each their own.
Thank you for sharing your insights.

  19. Thanks for visiting TogetherOne. I too love photography, your travel photos are amazingly colorful and beautiful.

  20. Hi Rommel–Very cool site. I’m new to blogging, and the only reason I found this site was because I saw that you had checked out an article of mine. Wow…this site makes me want to travel even more! Great stuff.

  21. Hey Rommel, congratulations! .com, yey! I won’t be surprise when ads will soon flood your website! Love the new look as well. And amazing photos as ever, galing talaga!

  22. Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and liking my recent Prague post – it’s always nice when I know I’m not writing into an empty void! Keep up the amazing travels. :-)

  23. Wow, I love your Blog 2.0. In just a few concise sentences you’ve let people know a lot about you. I love Italy, too. I didn’t get lost in Paris, but I get lost when I HAVE to find something! My buddy gave me a certificate to a class on Google Maps. haha. Love being part of your blogging community.

    • Hi juanderkid, your blog is very very interesting. I took time looking at it, just didnt read much because I have lots to attend to then. Will sure look at your blog, love your people section. Goodluck on Freelancing.

  24. “Seahorses are unique in the Animal Kingdom because it’s the male that gets pregnant.”
And with that, I knew I’d follow you- if not to the ends of the earth, then at least to the WordPress. San Diego is amazing and I’ll be sad if I have to leave!

  25. Hi just wanted to say that I love your blog! It’s a big frustration of mine to travel (maybe after years of saving I can finally do so) so seeing your photos makes me feel like I’ve somehow been to the places too. Keep posting and thanks for sharing your wonderful travels with us! :) btw, I’m also from the Philippines-lot’s of great places here!

    • You’re very welcome. Just look around you, take a picture and I bet you lots of people from all over the world would find something foreign, something new and interesting to what you’ve shared. :D Perhaps, if you still are discouraged, then take your aim to other course such as writing, music, poems, quote, etc. ;) Share what you are.

  26. Hi Rommel. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving comments. It’s always a thrill to have someone take the time to view my posts and share feedback or thoughts. I have enjoyed browsing your posts. I agree Italian food is the best but I’m a bit biased. Love your photos and your unique take on the about page. Have you considered putting some Canadian spots on your bucket list?

    • I always like to know my commentators. ;)
Ooopsy! I don’t believe I’ve annotated that Italian food is the best. I’m always careful with saying best, most, or other superiority. Hehe. If I did, I must be tired at that time I wrote it, or probably someone had hit me hard on the head with a baseball bat. I do not separate any cultural food from each other. I love to eat, and I love them all. Hehe :D
And I’m sorry. There is a very slim chance for me to go to Canada. But I would certainly and be delighted, jump and clap like a girl, if I do get to go. :D :D

    • Ooooh no. I had two Italian courses there, a Math subject and Psychology. But I was there primarily for work. :D Nice to meet you, Maggie. Nice blog you have there.

  27. When I glanced your nomination, I thought it was for another award than the 7 Super (I must be too excited). :D I did for Madhu in August…http://shareandconnect.wordpress.com/2012/08/05/7-best-shots/. They are not super shots by any measure, besides I chose based on my sentiments than the photographic technique which I know nothing about. :? You did not see it because it got buried … So, sorry about that.

Rommel, you should consider http://www.smithsonianmag.com/photocontest/9th-annual/Photo-Contest-Rules.html (“down on my knees” is saved for this one… :) I’m serious.

  29. Hi Rommel, Thanks for stopping by Moken’s blog and taking a look. Your list of Absolute Musts is great. Love that you’ve written them down, mine just rumble around in my head.

  30. Hi, Rommel! Thanks for dropping by my blog and leading me back here. I love your list of recommended blogs, I found gems in there. I can relate about going back home and checking out the music gigs, too! Cheers Angie

  31. Hey there! Thanks for the visit and like. Your photos are great, will follow your journey. Lived in So Cal for over 20 years. Moved back to N.E. Wisconsin in 2011 and love the seasons again. It’s like being a kid again when it snows out.

  32. I’m looking your cool San Diego posts, Rommel. We are going to be there after Christmas for a few days. Any tips, suggestions? Sorry miss seeing you…

  33. It’s not everyday I stumble upon a person with the same name as me. Thanks for dropping by my blog. I must say, we have a few things in common. Heh. Also, I love your blog. I love travelling! And you’ve been to a lot of places. That is so cool! Looking forward to more posts from you. I just followed today. :)

  34. I love this ‘about me’ page – capturing little parts of you in just a few sentences. Kind of like the photos you take, capturing little moments that really show the place off.
Ps. thank you for stopping by my blog, I am grateful because 1) I’m pretty new at this blogging thing so it was quite exciting and 2) it means I got to see yours!

  35. Beautiful images, Rommel. I would like to translate some of your photographs into paintings, works on paper, or poetry for guitar. You’ll receive credit for the inspiration of any pieces that are created as a result of perusing your blog. Thanks for sharing your creative talent, and I look forward to visiting your blog more often!

    • Paint away! That would be an honor. Just let me know if you’re done. I think I wouldn’t even mind about pingback-ed. It’d just be nice to know that my image get turned into an artwork. That’d be whoa-some. :D

  36. Hi Rommel. I really like your blob. Man, You have been to some spectacular places and done awesome things!! I hope you didn’t get too hurt by the bull in Spain. If you are still on Okinawa and get the chance to see the Cherry blossom parade in Nago, it was worth the trip in 1987. I hope it still is. I know that was long ago. Keep posting pics of Oki, it lets me daydream of good times. Thanks Rommel.

  37. Hi Rommel, nice to meet you, and to explore your blog. You have some great travel photos and stories. We spent 7 weeks in Italy and liked Cinque Terre and Venice better than Rome
I know it’s been ages (we’ve been without internet for a while) but thanks for the ‘like’ on the post about Bolivia. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
    Happy travels, Alison
