My Top 100 Albums of 00’s

This was posted from my old blog. ThoughtI’d transfer here.

  • All Studio ALbums: No Live Albums, Greatest Hits or Collections, Soundtracks, Re-issues, B-Sides-
  • Honorable Mentions at the end of the list
  • One Album per Artist

There are many artists who made (consecutive) great albums namely Kanye West, Radiohead, Spoon, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, The New Pornographers and Beck. I give high credits to these artists. MIA, LCD Soundsystem, Outkast, Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, The Nationals and The Decembrists all have two outstanding album. Some of them are obvious choices. A lot of them are hard and tricky to pick from. The biggest victim against the One Album per Artist basis dilemma is Spoon. I really prefer Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga to be on the list. Spoon’s album entry would’ve probably higher if I choose either of their previous two. There are some that are contradictory to many critic’s end of the decade lists. I chose “In Rainbow” by Radiohead rather than Kid A. White Blood Cell over Elephant (The White Stripes). Neon Bible and not Funeral of Arcade Fire. Like the case of Spoon, I also picked the commericialized “Only By The Night” by Kings of Leon than any of their previous two. It was so hard to choose from MIA, LCD Soundsystem, TV on the Radio and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It always goes down as a matter of which album is closer to me.
