Now that I’ve settled a bit …

Welcome to my lovely abode.

THE SOPHOMORE SLUMP RECOMMENDS

Movie: A Separation – This grand-slam for Best Foreign Movie of 2012 gets very intense, intimately close to personal, and real. A true world-class film.

Here’s a trailer …

Music: Stories From The City, Stories From The SeaΒ by PJ Harvey. This girl artistically and beautifully rocks BIG TIME!

Hear for yourself, a track called “This is Love”.

Let’s enter the gateΒ …

Something’s going on there. Go ahead and take a look …

Statues are typical in Greek houses.

My landlord loves gardening.

She decorates the area with stones, vases, faucets and basins. She grows plants, flowers, succulents, trees and fruits.

The best part that got me sold on picking this apartment.

Are you ready?

The view of my apartment

To the left of this viewΒ are high mountains… but we’ll wait for a better season to see it better.

I hate to brag about this, but it’s really beautiful for me not to share. Mind you, my apartment in California was nothing to be proud of. I lived in crazy neighborhood, old, small apartment in California. I was completely fine with it.

Whatever apartment I was gonna get here in Greece, I take it. I just happened to find a really great apartment with a really great view.

It also has a pool …

… with the view …

Let’s go inside the house. Come on in!

Yup, I can see the same views from the inside.

My portion of the apartment is actually small. It’s good enough space for me. With that view, I couldn’t say no.

And … my rent is so cheap too. I pay half of the price compared to my apartment when I was in Italy. It’s $300 less than what I was paying in California. Plus, the landlord pays for internet and water. This apartment really a steal.

THE best apartment ever HANDS DOWN.

When times are rough and days are stressful, it will always be a relief to come home to this …

Stick around here and get comfortable. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

Next weekend, we’ll drive aimlessly here in Crete, Greece to explore and get familiar with the driving situation. πŸ˜‰

  1. Wow! So beautiful! How does it look at night? I can’t wait to see more photos. That’s the problem with reading blogs. I just add one more place to visit on my list. πŸ˜‰ Helen

    • At night, it’s illuminating. My cell cam can’t handle night photography. When I get my fancy camera available again, I’ll show the view at night. Some time, I’ll show sunset pic as well.
That’s the same with me in reading other travel blogs. πŸ˜‰

  2. I obviously missed the previous post in which you communicated this slight shift in your living arrangements. This post simply serves as ‘shock and awe!” It’s beautiful, Rommel. And I’m sure you are deserving of all this grandeur. Revel in the beauty and this next chapter in your amazing life journey.

  3. The Orples and I are delighted for you, Rommel. Having a nice place to call home is such a blessing. I am thrilled you’ve found an apartment you are so happy with … here’s hoping your new lifestyle is full of such blessings all the way around. πŸ˜‰

  4. Seriously? How the heck did you snag that place? It’s fabulous and I’m so happy for you. I look forward to following along during your Greece adventure.

    • This is luck. My priority was close to work. I hunted 4 houses that are very close and I chose only this one that just a bit further. When I saw the view, I was sold in a blink of an eye.

  5. BRILLIANT ! I will be there sometime next week, OK?!? I think there will be a few thousand of us traveling there, what a place…great times of exploring and contemplating life are in store for you over the next year or so!

    • Yup! I’ve resided to two other European countries. And being here, I really have much more understanding of Europe as a whole, as a continent, much more than ever. Thanks for the comment and visit, kirill.

  6. Oh. Get. Out. Get out right now. This is the kind of thing that never happens to me. This is like THE BEST freakin’ apartment I’ve ever seen. Blessings on your stay here. Post lots of fabulous photos and have a great time…or have a fabulous time and post great photos.

  7. Awesome. But a word of warning having lived and worked in Greece myself. Driving there is like the longest episode of ‘The Wacky Races’. Good luck – LOL

  8. Nice views and garden – I am envious, not just of the view but of the sunshine as well. I hope to visit Greece one of these days to see its renowned beauty and history for myself. πŸ™‚

  9. Oh my! There has to be a guest room, right? A small cupboard will do πŸ™‚
What kind of work will you be doing, Rommel, or are you a gentleman of leisure? I know that can’t be true!

    • There is a guest room with a bed for you if you do revisit Crete this year. πŸ˜‰ But you can also bring a tent… I kid, I kid. πŸ˜€ I am serious about the guest room offer though. πŸ˜‰

  10. It’s funny how I love Greece and I’ve never been there. You’ve got a very breathtaking sanctuary over there. Killer views is just one way to say it. Hope to be there someday, too.

  11. I loved Crete. Go to the inner country mountain pass and look for a roadside restaurant that serves outdoor oven baked lunch. Lunch is around noonish. I wish I could remember the name of the place but don’t. It on a middle road almost dead center from north to south of the island. It’s such a lovely place to visit and I bet a great place to live.

  12. Hi Rommel, trying to figure out where this is and what you did in Crete….?
I kinda know Xania & Iraklio…and the village of Rodgia high up in the mountain…
i know some of the female inhabitants are afraid in the mountains as it is very dark and if you dont have transport, you’re kinda stuck…did you meet this dilemma…?

Don't be shy to say hi.
