#400

Hi! My name is Rommel. You are viewing The Sophomore Slump, and this is my 400th post. Followers and alike, I hope you enjoy…

May I borrow your precious time as it took 1 year, 8 months and 27 days😀 for me to finish this 400th post. I beg of you to view each of the entries. Not just because I browsed and sifted through countless of blogposts to compose this, but mainly because these are great words and images by your fellow WordPress bloggers. It doesn’t take too much time to finish this post. I promise.😉

I cranked up a notch, just a hair, from what I did on my 300th post. I basically combined what I did on #300 and what I did on Epilogue 2, compiling the words and images and turning it into a video.

It wasn’t pain stalking at all to make. It only took a lot of editing and redundant playbacks. The most headache was actually looking for the images and the words from bloggers. 😀

Deciding on music was a little knotty. I always wanted to be instrumental only. I always had in mind the track “Hand Covers Bruise” by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, but it’s short and it’s a bit of a dark sound. I contemplated on “Clocks” by Coldplay. I thought it’s too generic. I considered songs from The xx, Pharell William’s “Happy”, Bon Iver and Wilco. At the last minute, I suddenly thought of “Alligator” by Grizzly Bear. It’s too obscure, but I decided on it because it has a lot of instrumentals and minimal lyrics. That’s good compromise or balance.

I knew from the very start that I was going to use more images than words this time around. #200 was all about quotes from bloggers, #300 was a mixture of words and images, and this time I focused more on images; with a little bit of quotes.

Without any further ado …. I hope you enjoy it …

  1. i love love love it. This is simple and beautiful, i love all the words you have put together, this gave me some good ideas and pretty inspirational thoughts as well. wow. And yes past images and emotions do appear without consent, i dare say present tense as well, hmm. Thinking about the boat of our lives been guided by unseen underwater tracks, i pray we all be guided to a better path filled with knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Blowing ya kisses from over here. Cheers and Thumbs up again for inspiring my Tuesday morning, giving me a fresher perspective at life. Mwuuuuuaaah.

    • You are being humble. I love that quote from you. It’s perfect as the opener for setting the stage for all the rest of the images and words. My apology for messing up a word on your quote. I’m very very sorry for that.

      • Oh please its okay. No offence taken at all. I love the concept, the idea, the video, all those blogs you listed, already exploring some. And thank you for the compliment about my words, I’m flattered and happy to hear that. Thanks again Rommel, it’s absolutely a blessing getting to know you through your words. Xo 😍.

  2. The images you chose were stunning – and seeing them in video form made them even more so. What a pleasant surprise to see my words incorporated in your work. Thank you so much.

  3. Oh, Romero, What a creative idea and extraordinary effort for putting these photos into a video! Thank you so much for including my work here, so very honored and flattered. I’m in a hurry this morning, will be back later. 🙂

  4. You have some of my very favourite bloggers in here, Rommel, and even one or two I don’t know. What beauty and wisdom we share! I’m honoured to be part of your gallery. I have no earthly idea how you accomplished this! 🙂 🙂 Happy 400! I’ve lost count but I know it’s taken me 5 years to get here, as of last weekend.

    • It took me 2 years to go from 300 to 400. Awful me. That’s basically what this video is about, a compilation of the beauty and wisdom viewed from different people from different parts of the world from different walks of life.

  5. Super post, Rommel. I really enjoyed the video, and feel so honoured to be amongst the featured bloggers here. Thanks so much. Those Crocs were really humongous. I was really happy that they couldn’t fly, but that was a really awesome sunset at the end of a long day’s coach travel. Thanks for bringing back the memories. 😀

    • You have so many great nature pictures that it was hard to choose which to include. I’m glad I found that mountain image, it looks so so good. I thank you back for sharing so many awesome nature pics.

  6. This is really touching to watch. Great images and quotes and the editing is awesome and the music just perfect. I love your generous spirit. Thanks for all the browsing and sifting – it was worth it.

  7. Zen mediation: If 400 hands clap at once, do you hear the virtual applause or feel the vibration? Congradulations on #400 and compiling all these images and ideas. You must have a great memory for items posted months ago…I thought blogs had about a 3 day shelf life 😉
    Oscar

    • Some of the images are very memorable to me, i.e. that second image “Camera Shy”, the restaurant pic from Shelley, the fishermen, etc. A lot of images I had to look for and choose and pick. What I remember from your blog are your churches pics. 😉 But as much as I admire them, it doesn’t fit with what I was trying to do here. I would agree that blogposts have an average of about 3 day shelf life. 😀 But, I do have a good number of posts that always return, and a few that get stuck on my Top most viewed posts.

  8. You, Rommel, are a talented and much appreciated blogger. You have found a new way to top your previous centennial contributions. This special post is a beautiful piece of work and a significant piece. Thank you for creating and sharing it with all of us. Well done, sir!

  9. Oh my lovely, lovely Rommel you touch my heart. I’m honoured yet again to be included , this post is magnificent and features some of my very favourite bloggers. i have no idea how you did this, it must have taken hours, very well done and thank you so much x 🙂 x

    • I knew I was going to create something really great out when I had this idea. It’s only right that I put forth the time and effort in making it what I myself consider a masterpiece. 🙂

  10. What a beautiful and generous offering for your 400th post! Thank you, Rommel, for including me in your montage and for introducing me to the work of so many talented writers and photographers. I felt a surge of joy and expansiveness when I saw the images you chose, the quotes, and listened to the perfect song. The world is big and there are so many seekers out there. You inspire me!

    • That’s exactly what I was thinking here. Seeing all the views altogether in one video, it tells me that the world is big but we are all seeing the same beauty and thinking the same thoughts or feeling the same emotions no matter how different we see it from others. I mean take for example the first two pics. From a grand nature view to a simplistic animating moment, both shows inspiration and beauty or grandeur. We are so different yet we really are all same.

  11. This is such a cool post and cool tribute to not only your 400th post, but to all of us who enjoy your work ~ your words and photographs. The music, sites and sights are something else. A treasure of places to admire and check-out. Wishing you a great one Rommel, and look forward to 4000 more posts 🙂 Thank you much my friend, take care ~

    • My most disappointment when creating this was not including some of your words. I wish there was I way for me to, but the way my head works when creating this video, it just didn’t fit with what I was trying to accomplish. But I cannot leave you out, you are one of the most outstanding writer and photographers in the blogosphere. Thank you and cheers!

    • Your blog alone took me probably 30 minutes to an hour or so to go through blog. 😀 Ahihihi Crazy me, eh? 😀 I’ve always remember that pic I included here, but you have so many outstanding photos that I really had to revisit your blogposts before deciding on that one. 😉

  12. Wow wow and wow Rommel !! You hit out of the park with this one for sure…like literally out of the park, out of the streets, out of the city, out of this world ! Yeah into the space is what I mean…that’s who splendid this post is ! There is no way anyone could have done it bette than you. Thank you for featuring me among other amazing fellow bloggers, I’m honoured ! Cheers to many hundred posts to follow Rommel. It’s a pleasure to know you !

    • Ahihihi 😀 🙂 Fun comment, Zee. You see how you have two inclusions here. You’re the only one. I really love that image, but I couldn’t *not sharing something that you have written. Thanks for the kind words, Zee.

      • I’m honoured and humbled that you decided to feature my words and painting both. I should be the one thanking you 😉 you put so much effort into this whole thing, but it was definitely worth it !

  13. Oh, Rommel, this video is amazing. I am so flattered and honored that you chose one of my photos for inclusion. My congratulations on 400 posts and looking forward to hundreds more! It has been fun following your blog and chatting in comments! Here’s to the future! 😀

You are a world traveler!! I thought I lost you in the blogosphere. Happy to see you again. 🙂

    • I’m glad people are replying back how long it took them to get to a certain milestone. It gives me a faint idea how others blog. It took me much more than 4 years to get to 400. You know I can’t forget about my favorite RV’ers. 😉

  15. Reblogged this on HHC Blog and commented:
It seems that nowadays I can only do one thing at a time. I wanted to reblog this since the day Rommel posted it, and today, I finally get a chance to do so. Rommel is amazing! Talented, warm and caring. He is one of the reasons that I love this blogging community so much. Hope you enjoy his post too.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

    • You are a very interesting blogger. Always humble to self-proclaim that you are a student, always learning, always honing your creativity, while you’ve already been so great all along. Thank you so much for the re-blog.

  16. well R – you rock so much – and I am honored to have made it to this post and the video is one I am going to watch a few times – the music was so interesting and actually perfect for the variety – well done!

and I am glad to have crossed blog ptas with you my friend – ❤

    • After 200 and 300, I kind of gotten a hang of it. 🙂 This is a bit challenging, but I knew it was worth the effort and time. Thanks for the reblog.

  17. I appreciate being included in your tremendous list, Rommel. I have enjoyed your compilations in the past and admire how much work you put into highlighting others. Congratulations on your 400th post. That really is a major accomplishment!

  18. Oh Rommel, after a few internet glitches, I was able to view your video and it was absolutely stunning. I was honored to have been a part of your collage, thank you. You did such a beautiful job of expressing the beauties of life on earth through all our wordpress friends. Some of the posts and bloggers I was familiar with and delight in, some I didn’t know and look forward to familiarizing. The collection was a statement of pure love toward people and our struggles and goals as we adventure across this amazing planet. I wasn’t just teary-eyed by the end, I was gasping and crying with joy. I will return again to visit the links. Your faith in life is much appreciated, and your expression, your art, is a joy.

  19. Beautifully made! I love the music and then everything else in it! Thank you for this Rommel, for putting your heart and soul into this. Made my Monday morning. The music shall linger in my head all week. Have a great week!

  20. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate way to celebrate such a great anniversary than in the spirit of the medium itself – collaboration with other bloggers – yet, many people would celebrate by showcasing their own work. Really impressed by this piece, and what you’ve mentioned about your other anniversary pieces. And it is a total honor to be included. Thanks again…

  21. Oh how sweet and kind of you to include me as well, dear Rommel! It took me ages to arrive but it’s better late than never;at least it’s still 2016 …
Great post and concept,I am so sorry I was that late, but I’ve been away from WP for a long time! All the best of best to you ~ Keep shining & always follow the light, dear friend 🙂
